Re: Vintage or Hot?

Thats a really interesting point Vince, I like vintage pickups as you get nice dynamic cleans which a higher output pickup doesn't do as well. About the only disadvantage I can think of is they can't do a tight modern high gain sort of tone, but unless you're playing specific genres of metal then th...

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?

Spent the afternoon trying to sort out some madness in this Bluesbreaker Reissue 1962 Came with random grounds missing, trem not working (not intentionally), LarMar Master Volume, Cathode Bias with 6V6 tubes. Have disconnected the Trem from the circuit properly and changed the mixing resistors to J...

Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen

Eddie and Les were really close, read about this concert in the Eruption: Conversations with Eddie Van Halen book I'm reading at the moment, Jan Hammer on keys, Tony Levin on bass, and Jerry Marotta on drums, so good!

Re: Pedals Of Epicness

I had a cheat sheet of about 50 different settings. I would never of been able to find the sounds in the list just by tweaking the knobs. It's actually quite complex to use, and has a vast array of sounds. Mmm it could kinda do with expression control on some of the controls, I guess thats why Matt...

I've been thinking about these too, I like the idea of the stereo in so I could do stereo with just one amp...

Re: Neural DSP Quad Cortex / Archetype Plugins Thread

Just installed Neural DSP Archetype Nolly for what seems like the first time in a few years. Shit its good. I don't remember it being this usable. I'll have to read through the update notes since I used it last but the most obvious is the doubler widens the stereo field like you would in the mix. T...

Re: R9 refret & inlays

I'm using Historic Makeovers inlays. Very good. I shared a cab with Kim once (Mr Historic himself) in Texas. Cool guy, humble and knew his stuff. The reason for the replacement - the originals have rounded corners, very busy look and nothing like a real burst. These have sharp corners, cleaner move...
