Re: What's on your work bench?
3. VegaTrem requires the spring claw to be positioned such that the springs are parallel with the body, so I need to relocate that. No I don't, the holes are drilled on an angle and the claw was butted hard up against the body so unscrewing it raises it up... might put something under the claw to k...

Re: What's on your work bench?
More like the work bed than bench but started to strip the Baretta and check out the new parts for size... so found a few issues so far: 1. Need to enlarge the pickup cavity in the corners to fit a covered pickup, will need to paint said corners once done... 2. Need to fill the pickup ring screw hol...

Re: Vintage or Hot?
Interesting things those. They're not made like a traditional pickup. https://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/7821/lace-alumitone-analysis-review They weight next to nothing too, the attached cable weighs more  the split coil tone is cool too, no drop in volume which made me think I'd wired t...

Re: Vintage or Hot?
Interestingly with the Lace Aluma X-Bars I put in my 8 string I was expecting them to be quite high output but they've actually got a really nice hifi clean tone, but also do the high gain djenty thing extremely well... Re: VegaTrem
VegaTrem arrived this morning, no meetings this afternoon so hopefully will get a chance to install it, although I need to do the new pickup install and polish the frets first.. have already installed the locking tuners, not sure when the new nut will arrive.. *edit* nut just arrived, looks like my ...

Re: Vintage or Hot?
Thats a really interesting point Vince, I like vintage pickups as you get nice dynamic cleans which a higher output pickup doesn't do as well. About the only disadvantage I can think of is they can't do a tight modern high gain sort of tone, but unless you're playing specific genres of metal then th...

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
Spent the afternoon trying to sort out some madness in this Bluesbreaker Reissue 1962 Came with random grounds missing, trem not working (not intentionally), LarMar Master Volume, Cathode Bias with 6V6 tubes. Have disconnected the Trem from the circuit properly and changed the mixing resistors to J...

Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen
Eddie and Les were really close, read about this concert in the Eruption: Conversations with Eddie Van Halen book I'm reading at the moment, Jan Hammer on keys, Tony Levin on bass, and Jerry Marotta on drums, so good!

Re: Pedals Of Epicness
I had a cheat sheet of about 50 different settings. I would never of been able to find the sounds in the list just by tweaking the knobs. It's actually quite complex to use, and has a vast array of sounds. Mmm it could kinda do with expression control on some of the controls, I guess thats why Matt...
