Re: Joe B gets another one-owner 59 burst
While Joe B's music moves me not one iota, he's a lucky guy getting to live out the life some of us would love to have.
According to the Strat in the attic 2 book, his parents owned a music store and he and his dad used to (and possibly still do) go out chasing down cool vintage gear. Talk about bonding!
It comes across that he's got a pretty solid family life and he seems to have avoided all the usual vices musicians have so i'd say he's a fairly grounded chap.
Good on him. Living the dream. Shame his music is balls.

Im leaving town tomorrow to go to Barcelona...and then on a Blues cruise with....yup, Joe B himself as the star...along with a bunch of other greats (Joanne ShawTaylor, Peter Frampton, Larkin Poe, Eric Gales, Robert Randolph, Bernie Marsden).
If his music is balls....well I'd like his balls. He is a better player than me.
just saying.

I have not been aware of hearing him
Any place in particular to have a listen? Wiki says he has 15 records. One with Beth Hart

There are a few live clips with Beth Hart that are good. He plays an early Tele on one in a way you wouldn't think a Tele could be played.foal30 wrote:I have not been aware of hearing him

Agree with kdawg though. It just leaves no impression and I still think his audience is made up of the same German crowd that'd just as soon be rockin'-out with David Hasselhoff.

The times I've spent with the kids jamming & messing around with guitars and all that goes with it were great bonding. Then there was a bake bean can quite recently that my son & I shot up with a Ruger .22 haha! priceless.kdawg2a wrote: According to the Strat in the attic 2 book, his parents owned a music store and he and his dad used to (and possibly still do) go out chasing down cool vintage gear. Aye he's from Utica, upstate New York. A town famous for precisely zero before Joe.
Dust Bowl is a good album. His guitar tone is beautiful on that record, sort of like a smoother Gary Moore.

I don't mind the stuff he does with Beth Hart, TBH I prefer his collab work over his solo stuff. This is a good track to check out...foal30 wrote:I have not been aware of hearing him

Solo starts around 2.53, kinda reminds me of what Kossoff might sound like today if he was around

tbh going to watch the guitar work and listen to the tones, the songs are somewhat unimportant, I'll just be waiting for each solo to kick in.
No one ever died of hard work.. but why take the risk..

Well i'm just an indie, goth, death rocker so his stuff is never going to appeal to me.
Like I originally said, he does seem like a good chap.
This blues music cruise sounds like an interesting concept though. Would it work with other genres?

Re: Joe B gets another one-owner 59 burst
Had to laugh, colleague who knows I love my blues was excited to tell me she was off to see Joe B. I think she thought I would be jealous and was somewhat deflated when I kinda went "meh". I did try to do it in a nice way.
