Valve Bass Amps

Post by Mattallica »

What are iconic or quintessential valve bass amps?

This is my list so far of module versions i want to make:

. Ampeg SVT
.Hiwatt DR506
.Orange Superbass
.Marshall Superbass
.Orange AD200B (maybe)

I very much like the idea of putting 6550 valves in my RM100 and using it for both guitar and bass.

I second you on the Super Bassman. I have mine coupled with a Fender Neo 610 and that combo is the biz! :-)

Probably not iconic yet, but the Verellen Meatsmoke rips. I also quite liked the Marshall VBA400 the few times i used one back in bass days.

There is something about pushing the low input on a valve bass amp that sounds like win.

I still want a mild O/D Bass Pedal but yeah

I tried the DR506 but i'm having issues. The doner didn't take well to being dismantled. I'm going to try the Marshall VBA next with another module as this will require the least modification (as the doners are basically marshall circuits)
