I built a thing
Jack >> 100k pot >> jack
Goes in the effects loop, behaves like a volume pedal
Works a proper treat

Thread resurrection..
Ordered myself a Weber Mass III. Will be putting my el84 Plexi clone through some savage power tube grind.
Will report back with results.

I've got a combo plexi (jmp50) running 1x 16ohm speaker. What's gonna happen here?

Who knows this might be one of you guys had it for sale. Better go push some funds through now I've gone done it.
My understanding is you can use higher impedance units with lower impedance amps (still not ideal however), but not vice versa.. You really needed the blue Hotplate.
Correct! You shouldn't use the green hotplate with a Marshall, and will run the risk of damaging the amp if you do.

The green hotplate is actually the rarest one. Pretty much the only amps that run at 2.7ohms are 3x10 Fenders (Vibro-Kings/Bandmasters etc) and their derivatives.

Ya buy new from states?

Curious how they go with the speaker motor load vs a typical reactive load.

There is no tone change/loss with this. The only thing that would decrease is the real low end punch that a physical moving speaker gives you.. the trouser flappy stuff. But I cannot tell a difference between it on or off in terms of tone.
My amp is a 20 watt EL84 Jet City modded to jubilee and plexi specs. I was expecting a lot of power tube distortion with the master up, but since I have high headroom, high power russian tubes in there, these things just dont distort the way I was expecting. They do breakup, but it's very smooth and controlled. I like it.
The best thing is the Weber allows the power section to saturate and I can add as much gain as I like without getting lost in the mix. It's tight and defined. I see now the way most tube amps need to be run for optimum tone. I can turn up mids, treb and presence and it all seems to balance out more (This is all observations during band practice), Very Impressed.
I'm never going back to digital now matter how heavy this stuff gets lol
Next step is to take the line out from the Weber into a separate power amp and cab and run a wet/dry setup. Being the only guitarist in the band I'm looking for ways to get a huge stage tone.
The weber iii I think is unbeatable for the money. (you're looking at roughly $600 new incl. customs shipping etc) Last night I took the line out into my Daw with IR's and it sounds better than the Captor I once owned.
