NCD - Mesa 2x12
Don't know if anyone spotted this on trademe...
Been after one of these or a Marshall 4x12 or similar for ages. Every time something in my price range popped up it was too far away and shipping pushed it into the "not now" bracket as it's hard to justify a big ticket for what is effectively private playing.
Anyway, this one popped up in my town/village over Christmas and I let it go the first time round as it felt just a bit expensive, then I realised it really was probably the best deal I was likely to see anytime soon so I vowed to buy it if I could get it for the start price. Picked it up last night very local, and plan to give it a hoon at some point today.
It's a closed back, 120 W, dual Celestion Vintage 30s, nice Mesa cover, and the only thing I can see wrong with it is the rubber on the handle is a bit munted - so might fix that one day.
It's much deeper, ie from front to back, than I was expecting, it's about the same height and depth. Fits neatly in the boot of the car which is cool as the old Marshal 1x12 combo had to be laid on it's back.
I'm going to be running the Katana head through it, I suspect that even on the lowest power setting it's going to be bloody loud as I've been to a couple of gigs when people have been playing these 2x12s and they've been plenty loud enough. Going to be fun starting to get the G-System and Katana playing together and see if I can turn myself into a proper guitarist now

I usually hate V30's but when I plugged my EVH into stratmatt's one of these it sounded awesome. I know Mesa have their own special V30 so I assume thats why I didn't hate it

Yeah these are awesome, always wanted to get another one. If you ever want a more classic rock style cab I've got a cool Marshall 2x12 vertical cab with greenies I could swap.
Loving it so far

Re: NCD - Mesa 2x12
Oh the pain,
I "KNOW" I have a speaker lead around here somewhere because I got Ryan to make me one years ago and I can even visualise it and it's super meaty plugs. But can I find the fecker? not a chance! it's buried somewhere in the storage room I suspect.
I'm probably going to have to try and buy a super cheap one somewhere in town to test this thing out now

I've got the same cab. The wheels really really help.
What did you get it for in the end?

Me too. The Removable wheels are great. Especially when things are tight getting one of these, Marshall head, 2 guitars, pedal board and lights into the boot of a sedan.NippleWrestler wrote:I've got the same cab. The wheels really really help.
Pretty happy with how mine sounds, though don’t think I’ve ever put more than about 20w into it with power scaling.

Track-loc wheels. You press the button at the end and just slide them in / out.sty wrote:Never realised the wheels were removable. I’ve seen them with wheels but thought they were retro-addsjimi wrote:

Re: NCD - Mesa 2x12
I have one of these Mesa cabs with V30s and I have a Randall 2 by 12 cab also with V30s. I don't know if they sound different. Is that likely?
