200 W of tube is heaps

200 W SS may not be enough

It's totally an inexact science.

Does he always go DI when you gig, or do they turn up his amp a bit?

Usually go d.i but new band doesn't currently have a sub in our setup at the moment. So would just be coming solely from his unit

In my experience if you’re not going through the PA it becomes less about the amp and more about the cabinet/s. A couple of 4x10 cabs with just about any amp over 200W is gonna move a lot of air, then leave the second 4x10 at home for gigs with a good PA
