I actually texted Jeremy earlier this week to ask what the story was with him, he came across to me like he may have had Aspergers or something along those lines.

Yes, indeed. Right on the money. The worst Strat I've ever played--and I was reminded instantly of it when reading Grant's description--was a real 1969 Fender. Just awful. No top or bottom end, no sustain whatsoever and it felt like trying to play a cheese grater.

Off topic, but I'm really enjoying the more even tone you get with a Jazzmaster rather than a Strat: loads of bottom end, but still with some sparkle and grind. So my advice would be to by a JM instead of a Strat.
