How "heavy" is your heavy rock exactly?

Since you have an AX8 I'd get something with a decent fx loop so you have the option of running 4CM if you want to.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Not that heavy at all really. The heaviest would be Cult of Personality but yeah it would be handy to use the amp as a stage backline with the AX8 too.

If not not dead set on a combo, I think my Blankenship would be great. Does anything from nice cleans well into hard rock territory- https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listin ... 1652080484

Might even be interested in doing a trade towards the JP12.

That does look badass and from all accounts from previous owners here, sounds great. Only patches I use on the AX8 is a JCM800 or Friedman too. Might jus be a bit more than I need... I’d have to pick a cab up as well.

I guess the Marshall DSL40C should work for you, or maybe the new DSL20CR if you want lighter than that.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Cheers for the replies. Had a good look at whats around but I don't think it will ever get any "real" use, whatever it is. I think my best bet is to get a 1 or 2x12 Mesa cab, Matrix power amp and a Sansamp pedal for if anything goes tits up. I like the look of the Friedman ASM speakers, but they're not cheap. At least with a cab I can use it with an amp if I ever feel the need. There, dither done.
