Re: Another Strat build project
Just a wee update. Got the Custom Shop '69 neck today. Put it on my EJ Strat to try it out. 'Slippery' and really comfortable. 7.25" radius. Happy with it (thank fuck - cost enough...).
Getting this bargain MJT body from Troy (thanks Troy) via Danny (thanks Danny).
The neck is NOS so there's no point in trying to relic the body. I'm going to strip and respray it with this nitro white (since I've got an unused can of it in the garage). Put the last of the old can on a bit of wood to see how it looks against the pickguard. Think it should look OK?
Estimating the total cost of the build around $1,500. Might be a bit spendy for a parts-caster but it'll be a good one.

Re: Another Strat build project
Had it been a true Shell Pink I'd have kept it but it's too dark. Should look like this (which is fucking spectacular IMHO).Michael wrote:Shit, I was trying to find a way to get that strat body. Stripping that pink is a crime!
Danny has a very nice hardtail body if you're interested (oo-er - JB?).

Good score Molly, that's the way to do it. Have you ordered the Lollar Dirty Blondes yet?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Dean and Danny both have pickups for me so I'll be spoiled for choice. Got the place to myself tomorrow so I'll be trying a few bits an' bobs through the EJ.Slowy wrote:Wait 2 weeks etc.etc.Michael wrote:Shit, I was trying to find a way to get that strat body. Stripping that pink is a crime!

Re: Another Strat build project
I would be hitting that Strat body with some dirty amber clear first to see how it looks then. Strip and repaint....yikes.

I'd love to but I can't get translucent tints in aerosol form. Had the same thought for a top coat over the white.GrantB wrote:I would be hitting that Strat body with some dirty amber clear first to see how it looks then. Strip and repaint....yikes.
