Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
Not sure if I've posted this one, I too, have been getting into the fretless lately. Quite funny, my calluses are changing. I'm also using my fingers rather than a pick so it's been a bit of a learning curve. I like to think of it as, after a lifetime of motorboating (frets) I'm now learning to sail by wind and tide. It sure feels that way.
I can't do any of my solo stuff on it because the tone sounds too vague and chords are still a little too much of a crap shoot, but that just means I have to come up with stuff to do on the fretless as well.

Oh, it has the usual piezo pickup. A very hot one, unfortunately, so it used to be more feedback than toans. And you can't really get a Feedback Buster for F holes, I think there's one guy making them but you have to send him a lot of info and I'm crap at measuring things. ("what could possibly go wrong?")Kev77 wrote:That's tasty, how do you mic the toans?
Anyway, Tod sold me a powered PA speaker after trying out all the amps in the shop and it sounds very reasonable now.
There's a notch knob as well, and with the presence and the bass/mid/treble stuff, it's pretty flexible.

Saw that. Looks very cool. Odd that it's a rosewood board with a skunk stripe on the neck. That's normally reserved for maple boards surely? IS that roundwound string marks on the neck?foal30 wrote:Fretless Precision TM alert

I'm not 100% on it being a rosewood fingerboardsmallface wrote:Saw that. Looks very cool. Odd that it's a rosewood board with a skunk stripe on the neck. That's normally reserved for maple boards surely? IS that roundwound string marks on the neck?foal30 wrote:Fretless Precision TM alert
It could be a replacement
I suspect it does have string gouges in the finger board but if there is no lacquer top coat then shouldn't be too difficult a sand.
Otherwise it looks a very sparingly played legit genuine boomer
The big question is how can I win the auction and get it here without Mrs Foal knowing
I suppose I could sell a bass or two
