James plays in GarageBand

Post by Single coil »

Unsure if Soundcloud stuff still works or not.
Decided one of the songs off the old flying nun compilation would be good to start with, so here we are.

The stuff in pocket caravan is just all voice memos off my phone and quite poor quality.

Sounds like hybrid picking. Nice technique. Superette had the coolest name.

No hybrid picking. For a minute there I was thinking of tremolo picking but I managed to not go on a tirade about metal.
I could explain how I got it to sound the way it does, but that'd take the magic out of it. Like knowing where food comes from instead of thinking all the supermarkets have a mean deal with the food fairy.

GarageBand is pretty antisocial when it comes to time signature changes, so I'm currently battling that. There will be an original up when I've sorted that and can program drums.

What is unclear is whether it's a garage band, Apple GarageBand or a band called GarageBand...

Or a garage band called GarageBand, recorded in Apple GarageBand.

Here's another one.

It is a clicky, peaky, poorly balanced mess.
I mean the shoegaze aspect is kinda cool but I would like to know what I'm doing wrong.

Edit: sorted.

Nice, i cover two of his songs too, including this one.

And sugerman is a good choice too.

Mate, I remember you from the 1st Auxland gearfest I went to.... Here's the lasting image... a young dude strapped with a white guitar, standing right in front of 4 x 12 blasting the shits out of the cellar we were in. I had ear protection in and it wasn't helping...

And now you are playing folk songs???? Wot 'appened?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
