Behringer Reverb Question
A few weeks ago I bought a new cheap DR600 (It is apparently a clone/copy of the Boss RV5).
But I've been pretty underwhelmed (yes I know it is cheap but the demos on youtube sounded pretty nice to me). Ideally I would have bought a Polara, but I can't justify that kind of price
Anyway, to me the level seems to have the reverb full on even at relatively low settings (10oclock) . And it just makes it sound like the guitar is miles away.
Anyone else own this pedal. Are there variations between individual units. Perhaps it is a result of my tiny little amp?
I haven't owned a reverb before - maybe I just need to be a little more subtle with how much I dial in.
Cheers

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
I'd say set it as low as possible so your volume doesn't change between it being off and on, it probably needs a mix control rather than a level control

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
on my rv5 winding the level dial actually boosts the signal quite a bit which suggests its not really like a mix control.maybe there is something odd where its only sending the wet and not the dry?

I seem to lose the dry signal totally. Not what I was expecting...Kris wrote:on my rv5 winding the level dial actually boosts the signal quite a bit which suggests its not really like a mix control.maybe there is something odd where its only sending the wet and not the dry?
There is substantial volume drop (even with the pedal off) but from what I read that is not uncommon in this pedal

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
thats what i thought-similar to not having a lead plugged all the way in or a bad connection on a patch lead.have you tried other combinations of input output?if i plug into b and output b the pedals mutes in bypass.

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
I actually prefer that kind of setup, I switched my liquid ambience to do it, so then you dial the balance between dry and wet...

I haven't played with the a and b inputs so will give that a go too.

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
The LEVEL control adjusts the output level/volume.
The TONE control allows you to shape your overall sound.
The TIME control determines the reverb time.
You say - Anyway, to me the level seems to have the reverb full on even at relatively low settings (10oclock) . And it just makes it sound like the guitar is miles away - do you mean in volume or in reverb?.
Have level at equal volume whether pedal on or off.
Dial back your TIME and see what its like, perhaps more subtle.

What you quote are the instructions, however, the Level definitely controls how much reverb there is. The volume drop is definitely there and is the same with any Level setting when the pedal is engaged.
I guess the feeling that the guitar sounds 'miles away' is not the volume, but due to the amount of reverb it sounds like I am at the very back of a very large hall. Which I know is what reverb does, but I guess I expected to get that 'reverb ' sound without loss of punch - you kind of lose the initial attack. I know I am not describing it well...

Despite their reputation, ive never had any issues with behringer stuff.I'd check your cables first. And maybe use a shorter setting...

Re: Behringer Reverb Question
Yeah I don't think the pedal is faulty or anything. Perhaps just not the sound I had in my head. It does sound nice enough with a low level.Kris wrote:Despite their reputation, ive never had any issues with behringer stuff.I'd check your cables first. And maybe use a shorter setting...

Slightly OT, but you have the perfect username to be asking a reverb question
