Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
I made a 4CM snake from dual TS leads from rubbermonkey and a TRS patch cable from ebay.
Gonna replace that pink dimarzio with another rubbermonkey lead so that they are all the same length/type and then get a cable management system sorted.

I've got some techflex back in NZ, how much do you need? might not fit over the connectors though.

They are 20 foot cables but keen on some clearance on each end so I can put two behind the amp and have room to wiggle etc

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
When using an expression pedal, how do I turn the wah on and off via switch on expression pedal?
I've figured out a bunch of stuff, but this still eludes me. I've currently had to assign wah on/off to FS3 to turn 'on' before I start using expression pedal to control it.

Can anyone confirm if there is a Polyphonic Octave effect like the Pog in the MS3?
i see in the list there is an octave and pitch shift but no mention of polyphonic.

i'm not too learned about polyphonics.Reg18 wrote:Can anyone confirm if there is a Polyphonic Octave effect like the Pog in the MS3?

but the octave is pretty decent - tracking isn't terrible.
haven't looked too much into the settings to see if it can do multiple POG type pitch's

Actually looking closer at the specs it has the Overtone which looks like it might do a similar thing too.SimpleSi wrote:i'm not too learned about polyphonics.Reg18 wrote:Can anyone confirm if there is a Polyphonic Octave effect like the Pog in the MS3?

Could I hook up my Timeline via midi to this and hit 1 footswitch on the MS3 to change banks/presets on the timeline as well as Turning on a Reverb and maybe an OD or other effects at the same time? From either it's built in effects or something in one of the loops (ie my favourite OD pedal)
Playing on Sunday I was starting to get a little frustrated as I have quite a number of effects to switch in and out for different parts. For example when going to a swell setting I'm changing preset on my Timeline delay, preset on my Empress reverb, turning on my Octave pedal and then reaching for my volume pedal. It's doable but clunky!
Am considering one of these to cover Reverbs, Octave pedal and to ease up tap dancing around my board.
Anything else like great sounding ODs, extra delays, other effects would be a bonus but not essential.

Yep, the Pitchshifter is polyphonic.Reg18 wrote:Can anyone confirm if there is a Polyphonic Octave effect like the Pog in the MS3?

It has Fast, Medium, Slow and Mono modes, and in the first three its polyphonic.

OK - assuming you have the Expression pedal connected to CTL IN/EXP1, and assuming that effects block "FX1" is your wah.xCaptainx wrote:When using an expression pedal, how do I turn the wah on and off via switch on expression pedal?
I've figured out a bunch of stuff, but this still eludes me. I've currently had to assign wah on/off to FS3 to turn 'on' before I start using expression pedal to control it.
Firstly - ensure that the EXP pedal is set to be controlling your wah's sweep:
1) Press EDIT
2) Scroll to CTL and press ENTER
3) Scroll to EXP1 and press ENTER
4) Ensure it is set to WH/PB
Now you need to set an assign to make any movement of the EXP pedal switch FX1 (Wah) ON.
1) Turn FX1 block OFF (for the moment) and SAVE the patch (so that it defaults to OFF).
2) Press EDIT
3) Scroll to CTL and press ENTER
4) Scroll to Assign 1 and press ENTER
5) Turn the Assign Switch ON
6) Set SOURCE to EXP1
7) Set MODE to TOGGLE
Set CATEGORY to FX1
9) Set TARGET to ON/OFF
10) Set MIN to ON and MAX to ON.
You've now told it that it this patch, any movement of the SOURCE (Expression pedal) will tell the TARGET (FX1/Wah) to turn ON.
You can prove this has worked by:
1) Press EXIT twice
2) Scroll along the FX chain to FX1. (It should be OFF)
3) Manipulate the EXP pedal and watch FX1 block switch on.

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
Awesome, thanks Matt, will try this tonight.
Although I'm still more curious about turning the wah on and off via a full press down and activation of the expression pedal as it has the footswitch underneath the pedal, much like a standard wah pedal.
If not I might experiment further with what you've suggested, as I'm fairly certain I can expand upon that and have an 'off' status be a specific position of the wah, I think I accidently did this the other day, the wah was turning on/off when I went to maximum. I might just reverse this and have the on/off controlled by the minimum i.e. (setting the pedal back to minimum position)
Having a lot of fun with it anyway. Forgot how much I missed playing with multi effects parameters and workarounds like this
