They are all pretty good
I know, the original is what I lusted after as a spotty 14yr old (in the fecking 80's young man!!!), but that is the best review I could find :D
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Yeah I remember when I played bass, our guitarist had one and I was like woah dude that waaay coool. Hard to find these days, they are either trashed or good ones go for fairly high prices. My one is pretty mint, no dings or scratches, original Scorpion, has all the knobs, spring reverb tank is sweet and everything works!! Only thing it doesnt have that I would like is a headphone jack.

If I have the Flanger and Delay in the Fx loop should the signal go Flanger THEN Delay? That is IF they are used together in any Tool riffs or mainly crunch and one of the two.

Second thing, now Im becoming a pedal junky and Im after this sound, which channel do I use? Seems to me this sound will be created totally by the pedals (i.e not using dirty from amp at all).

I mean you can put stuff in any order you want, but if you're getting your gain from your pedals, I'd try:

Guitar > Flanger > Dirt > Delay > Amp, OR

Guitar > Dirt > Flanger > Delay > Amp

IMO put the delay last in pretty much all cases. Flanger can go before or after dirt, it'll sound much more pronounced after dirt (which might be good or bad).

As for channels, if its lots of gain from the pedal, probably the clean channel of your amp, but again whatever sounds good.

Was thinking...

1. Guitar > crunch pedal or tube pedal > into amp clean channel (FX Loop) Flanger > delay.

2. Guitar > crunch pedal or tube pedal > flanger > into amp clean channel (FX Loop) > delay.

Its so busy here at work I just spent the last few hours trawling the net looking for info on Adam Jones pedals and more importantly how they are arranged.

MXR Micro amp
Volume pedal
Wah
Delay
Flanger
EQ
These then run direct to the amps input !!!

In the video below you can see this, also a quick few seconds look at the settings on his Boss BF-2 Flanger and DD-3 delay.

Spent Saturday morning scouring Auckland retailers for a few missing pedals, a quick trip to Mitre 10, knocked up this pedal board, the gap in the front row is for a pedal i have on order. Having tried them all out im very happy with the effects i get for TOOL, happy chappy.
