Cheers guys.

And yes, I do! Still have a little pedalboard on a PT nano sitting around gathering dust. A Timmy, a Euphoria, a Diamond Memory Lane Jr and a Wet are all waiting to be played.

So, is the Katana mostly seen as a platform for something like an HD500?

No and a little bit of Yes . It is an amp in its own right first and foremost, but is also a platform for computer editing etc (ps I don't have one .... yet  )

honestly from what I have read these are the best thing you can get at the price point, regardless of valve v modeller ...... they will be great live or via computer/recording

stop over thinking and yet PM Dave and get one

I've had mine a whole afternoon now, so I'm still in the 'harmony central' throes of reviewing.
It's pretty good, and for the price of a boutique pedal you end up with an amp that would never embarrass you in public.

Cheers but I'll never part with my Memory Lane Jr - I love it too much.

Interesting. I'm going down the youtube rabbit hole as we speak.

I was leaning towards and AC10 initially. Similarly budget friendly, especially second hand.

I was looking at an ac10 too but I'm a bedroom player again these days and the katana does that and can be gigged so was a no brainer :)

Great amps. I'd definitely go there if I didn't have an AC4.

AC10s are lovely, as are 15s. They're so far removed from your old JCM though, as I'm sure you're aware. I'd definitely check out Nik(sizzlingbadger)'s Laney though. Great deal on a killer amp.

Line out/USB out is a bit meh sounding, throws you right back to the GT5 land. Probably because the cab sim isn't that great.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Big Jet City fan here. Hard to beat for the price. And huge trannies in them, so even the 20 watters are massively loud.
Getting hard to find though as there is no importer at the moment. But to import one is cheap enough anyway.
