Never gonna sound Marshall. More a just over the edge crunch, but FAT. Over 6 is stock break up territory.Reg18 wrote:I'm unsure if the mods affected the gain but it seemed cleaner than the last deluxe I tried. Although I'm still trying to figure out the volume interaction.Aquila Rossa wrote:I nice tweed combo cab and a Jensen would do it justice one day. Interested to hear how first test run goes and how well it purrs like a Deluxe.Reg18 wrote: Yes will be at gearfest and so will my new amp, better get cracking on my cab build to go with it!
It certainly had an on the edge of breakup roar to it, but I seem to remember you can get a nice saggy Marshall type higher gain out of them too? Although only used single coils with it so that could explain the less gain thing.
What are people's favourite settings for these amps?
Did you crank it to 12?
Getting in this ballpark with it cranked? :

what that is is really shitty electronic design, done to look good with no thought around shielding, short traces, ground planes, etc. Form over function, hipster, etc.

For tidy, it'd be hard to beat Hiwatt
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

That is a work of art! However it's such a waste it's not on display Needs to be in a clear enclosure

What are people's favourite 5e3 settings?
To give you some where to start:
Settings for lowest volume clean?
Settings for most overdrive/saturation

You can bridge the channels.Reg18 wrote:What are people's favourite 5e3 settings?

Tone up to 9 or something brightens, but after that point it for some reason gets darker. Therefore "most overdrive/saturation" will probably be at the point before the tone control darkens things.
These amps go to 12 which is one more than 11
other than that, hell it's three knobs. Turn them until you like what you hear.
