I've just then sent him a message asking
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Cheers bro.
Apparently 3 L2's were brought into NZ 84/85. Because I am a nerd I am interested in knowing where they are

Re: Forumites Playing in Auckland
I played Steve's 5 XL2 when he was over here from the UK post quake
The string spacing was too snug for me but yeah a nice bass. I've never really been sold on 34" scale 5's either but the B string on this was good.

Hiya, That's my Steinberger XL-2 in the Duke clip. Got it in late 84. Serial number in the early 2000s. Has the plug in leg rest and silk-screened logo. A friend has a an L2 (I think) - it had a sticker logo and the faceplate attaches from the front. The serial number is pre-800.

If ya mates Steinberger is serial sub 800 that's an L2 (bolts in front) from the Newburgh shop in Brooklyn. 3 came into NZ one each to Auckland , Wellington, Chch. IIRC they retailed at above 3K. I have the 'Wellington' L2. I got it in 1990(?) third owner.
Fecking great basses.
