Haven't given this a go yet but I thought this was pretty interesting. It's apparently a popular technique employed by pianists

New Ozzy ..... um not sure about it but I will say at least it sounds different to the last couple of albums which have all sounded the same. The solo guitar sound is awful though as is the solo

I've really been digging Caligula's Horse, only came across their stuff earlier this week. Listen to the first couple of tracks off their 'Bloom' album and see what you think

So much more than 'math rock' though, the guitarist is amazing. Fast as hell but has an amazing sense of melody - as do all of the band. Haven't settled on a favourite album yet, they are all solid

... casually pulls out his genuine 'Red Eye' 1959 Gibson Les Paul out of the rack

Great Rig Rundown though, nice to listen to a player that appreciates the finer things whilst at the same time having complete appreciation of where he is at and what he has in his collection

I watched this a couple of days ago and realised I definitely do think about my fretting hand only and struggle to get my picking hand to keep up. In the past I've spent lots of time playing chromatic triplet exercises to keep my picking technique up to a reasonable level, but if I stopped then I'd quickly regress. It's never been where I wanted it though.

So after watching this I grabbed a guitar and thought "OK, let's think about picking and fretting separately but at the same time... probably will take a bit of practice, but I'll give it ago".

It honestly took me about 20 seconds to do it and I was suddenly picking considerably better than I have ever done before. I played a bit again tonight and I'm blown away how clean everything is now. It has made a huge difference!

One thing I've realised is my fretting hand knows what to do already, it's just a bunch of patterns I've played a million times, so that hand doesn't need much focus. Being able to swing my attention to my picking hand while just monitoring my fretting hand... it has actually completely changed the way I play.

Thanks for posting!
