Really dig both Matt & Josh's playing. Love the look and sound of this new Two Rock, bloody hissy/noisy though. Guessing the hum more likely to do with the single coils on Matt's Strat, but would probably end up annoying the shit out of me.

Regardless, good little video :-)

Going to try some of this. Time I added a bit of colour to my playing.

Snap, I just watched this, it came up on my Youtube feed and I had a listen. He is quite a player. Larry Carlton offers some great YT lessons to help people hear then use some of those passing notes and figure out how to work them in to progressions. Ah, but to play along with Larry, you'll be needing a semi

Just picked up the latest issue of Guitarist magazine, looks like that clip links in with the magazine

While we're on the subject of Josh, I sat and watched this earlier today. Awesome playing and overall a really interesting watch :-)

I know... Someone should dig a big, deep fucking hole and take all this tired, meaningless shit and dump it down there forever. There's really no excuse for it. Write a lyric that means something to you and use your knowledge of the cliches to avoid playing them.
Hate to say it, but this is exactly why Knopfler rocks.

Getting my coat........

Watched a wee BBC thing about Sailing to Philadelphia and the story of the Mason-Dixon line. And also the social significance of the line as it relates to slavery and abolitionism. Knopfler seems to be a champion of the underdog so I wondered if his reason for the song wasn't just that both Jeremiah Dixon and Charlie Mason came from humble beginnings, but also because of the slavery connection.

And, yes, the whole trite, tired lyrics and cliched songs that are simply vehicles for a guitar solo. Just crap.

Thanks for that. Off the top of my head, I could name at least a dozen post Dire Straits Knopfler songs that could receive similar treatment. I love songs that not only tickle my musical fancy but send me off to Google the story.

Beryl would be another I guess. About someone who didn't receive due recognition until after she was dead.

It's one of the main reasons why I can't really like Chickenfoot. There are some moments of Satriani brilliance (not as many as I'd have thought though) but Sammy Hagar's tired, cliché-ridden lyrics just ruin it for me. Awful, childish, knuckle dragging nonsense.

Just wondering if the whole reason Knopfler didn't attend the R&R Hall of Fame induction was that it didn't fit with his sensibilities. Maybe a bit too self-congratulatory and pompous. Dunno. Maybe he just couldn't be arsed.

Not on YouTube, but just watching the 'Voodoo Child' Hendrix documentary. Pretty good actually, Bootsy Collins is narrating it as Jimi
