Old vs New Ernie Ball Volume pedals

Post by rickenbackerkid »

I needed 2 volume pedals for last night, and borrowed an old Ernie Ball from a friend. It has jacks on the side, not the front.

Anyway, I was very surprised to find that it is completely different to the modern Ernie Ball Jnr. Slightly lighter action, and for some reason an better, smoother taper, from off to 100%

Anyway, take this as a PSA, the old ones are good. For my purpose anyway, the old one was clearly better. As I use volume lots, I convinced my friend to trade, which he was perfectly happy to do as he likes the smaller Ernie Ball JR.

Not sure how to tell . . . it's in pretty tidy condition but it's quite different to the new ones. Maybe 80's?
