partial coil tap :)

Post by dylan »

my new axe has 3 wire humbuckers, so no paralell/series switching (what i usually have) and no ability to choose which half of the pickup you want to hear.

coil tap on the bridge hb was so quiet it was not much use, so ive put a 1k5 resister inbetween the tap and ground.

result - a part tapped pickup - less volume and bass than full humbucker, but still a useable signal.

idea - trimpots on the tap so you can choose exactly how much signal you loose.

better idea - take an unused tone knob (i allways disable them) and use it as an "amount of tap" controll.
 Mids so haunting that demons took over my living room and now my guitar glows!

Weta guitars in Wellington used to do this. I tried one once and found the in-between sounds to be less awesome than I expected, I liked it best eithe humbucker or single. But cool idea for sure

It's great in theory. I was less than amazed with my HH jag that had this feature.
I sold it about a month later.

Sounds like you've turned your tone control into a tone control?
