I fitted my PAF Masters today. I like them
They are closer sounding to Seth Lovers than the original 57's ie a bit softer but still retain some bite and some nice chime, almost a bit of Tele in there. The neck is slightly thicker sounding than the 57 but not boomy, reminded me a bit of the Slash neck pickup but a bit cleaner. The middle position is really nice and the pickups interact to get an almost out of phase / thinner type of sound. Nice string separation when playing full barred chords with some grit.

Dimarzio PAF Masters
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: Dimarzio PAF Masters
Would you say "better" or "different" from 57's?

Different, I'm a fan of 57's though so I expect some would say better.
