Hey Tony, weren't you looking for a less brash PAF style set? Maybe this is for you...

if that was just audio and somebody said it was an old Les Paul i'd believe it. Liked the bridge pup a lot, but not so much the neck. It sounded band filtered, which i really dislike unless i want it on purpose from a pedal (i would not want it hard wired into a pup).

I use the 36th set in 2.5 of my guitars.

I don't think I'd change them.

The neck of this new one sounds more bassy.

However I do like the warm bridge from this new set.

Interested to hear them coil tapped

A very strange choice of guitar to demo PAFs. Post guitar settings not very enlightening, either.

Probably good pickups, though. Will be keen to see other demos.

at least they didn't get doug aldrich to demo them ... he makes everything sound great so would have been even more unhelpful :moresarc:

This.

But yeah - super excited to check them out. Have been a massive fan of the PAF36 and would be interested to see what these bring to the table.

To my largely uneducated ears they do sound quite Les Paul-ish, especially the bridge. Considering the demo guitar, I imagine they will sound pretty fantastic in an actual Les Paul.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.
