How did this turn into a gfs thread.
Most threads get hijacked, be glad it is still on topic (sort of) and hasn't deteriorated into something kinky :)
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Yes they sure do rave about the BKP's and that's why I paid a small fortune for a set. For some reason they sounded a little lifeless to me. Though I'm not a huge humbucker fan boy so maybe that was it. I have just scored a reputable set of humbuckers, Rio Grande BBQ/ Buffalo, so maybe they will change my mind.

I just put a pair of GFS mean 90's in a guitar and I love them.

I agree there is plenty of cheap rubbish out there and rule of thumb is "ya get what ya pay for".
I've tried a number of different sets of BKP humbuckers and a few singles and, I have to say, there is a fairly wide variety of different tones in their range, even just among their 'vintagey' ones. As an example, Crawlers, Mules and Rebel Yells are nothing alike, and I'd go as far as to say that they're different enough that if you get the wrong set, you'll hate them. I really dislike the Rebel Yells, but tons of people really rate them, and vice-versa with the Crawlers.

Was going to try some of their lipstick pickups in my Danelectro money since they can be had for throwaway money. But I discovered that the Dano sounds awesome as it is through the top boost channel of the Vox. Money saved = win. :)

Ordered a set of the ac4 toneriders to try out as I was ordering some other stuff from guitar parts.
Will be doing a direct comparison to the 65th ann PAF and stock yamaha humbuckers in the sa1000.

Took me a lot longer than it should have for me to learn this.

I'd agree, apart for the fact that the tonerider tele pickups are the best I've had. I love them.
Just because you spend a lot doesn't garauntee you good tone either. Yes, wait longer for the right stuff, that may mean a lot of research and listening to demos, but doesn't always mean shelling out top dollar.
This Certainly is part curiosity, to see if their buckers are as good as their single coils.
Bottom line is cheaper doesn't always mean worse and visa versa.

Ive got a set of AC2's on the way for my sheraton2. I hope they dont suck:) But then if they do suck and i have to pay $300 for some normal price upgrades, its a tolerable amount of cash ($110) to have misspent.

In fairness, it was a long time back. Maybe they're better now. My actual experience left a lot to be desired. From recollection, little bottom end depth and although "crunchy" as promised the top end wasn't refined.

I just know that I have wasted a lot of time searching for sounds with cheaper kit, when what I shoulda done was saved harder and gone for right stuff having waited only a little longer. Apply that to amps, girls, pedals, guitars.

Crow - never tried BKP but they do seem to polarise people!
If I ever have my (fake) Gretsch up in the 07 at the same time as you're around, you'll have to see what the newer stuff sounds like. I'm very happy with the way mine sounds.

didn't like them in mine. I had rocksongs in a guitar I bought off tardme too, couldn't get them out of there fast enough, just a pile of junk - muddy with a confused mid range.
