well I just started recording.

i use a soundblaster live with Nuendo mixing software. works a treat. I just ripped a backing track to wav file then added it as audio to the Nuendo project. then I just record another channel of me on guitar and wallah, me playing the song.

and yes I learned how bad my timing is.
AFK.

its a bit of a shock at first when you realise how crap your timing is - doesn't take much practice to pull it into line though :)
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Yeah timing and figuring out how to run more than line into the machine. And not blowing up your computer speakers on playback, cause you've got the bass to loud.

Yeah, I would highly recommend an amp modeller for computer recording.

Get the V Amp 2 by Behringer if you want something a bit cheaper- or the POD if you have a bit more cash. My V Amp 2 sounds just fine for my purposes.

yeah got an amp modeller in my muli fx pedal.

ok brought a computer (athlon 64 3200) and got soundblaster live 5.1 soundcard with a live drive at the front to plug everything into. had heaps of trouble setting it up cause the soundcard didnt support xp and my dual power supply was causing conflicts so had to remove that.
i got cubasis vst in the software bundle but that of course dosnt work on xp so gotta download something else. was thinking cubase sx anybody had any troubles with that or could recomend anything better?

SX is good - cakewalk is easier to use if a first time user, but cubase is definitely better :) Especially if you have racks of synths ;)

I used to mess around with Reason a couple of years or so ago, but got a bit bored with it. Cubase is much more flexible, especially if you have outboard gear and plugins.

I've used Reason a fair bit to create some trance tracks (but of course I would never admit to that on a guitar message board... :P). I also do all my drum loops for guitar based music in Reason because they are so easy to do and sound "real".

Let that particular "T" word never be mentioned again. For it is the Devil word of music. And it will be the downfall of all that is good and right in music. We must push to stamp out this evil curse that has plagued the music world for to long now. Can I get an aye men? Praise the lord his name be Vai.
