Shouldn't be hard; there's plenty of videos etc, but I've not had much luck so far. The things I've tried seem to either produce bowel loosening bottom end or spitty shards.

Pretty much everything I play is with single coils through EL84 valves. I've got the brightness covered.

Looking for the smoothest of Gilmour's fuzz tone so a Big Muff would be the logical choice but which version?

Just trying to create a big violin. All advice welcome.

Direct out feature good for embiggening an acoustic on stage too.

I have tried a handful and have always gone back to this for some reason. It's fantastic if you're not concerned about brands. Strat starts around 2 min mark...

Slowly, a graphic equaliser is wonderful way to get your fuzz pedal sounding great.try that with your existing fuzz pedals.
Darthsabethini is the man to talk to, but knowing you, I'd recommend starting with a fuzz face style pedal. Maybe a smooth sounding germanium one. They are lovely, and if you're going to buy a fuzz, I think you'd get the most practical use out of a fuzz face. One that cleans up when you roll off the volume knob. A fuzz face will also be really good to drive your low wattage amps. I can't really see you being happy with a muff style pedal. If you were going to get a muff style one, I'd get the black arts one {I can't remember the one, but jb had one too.) it has 6 knobs and is super versatile. You'd be able to tune it to how you want.

Were you referring to the Carcosa, Danny? It's incredibly versatile, fantastic pedal! I only went back to the Triangle Buff because I didn't use the other tones much.

Thanks Guys. I have no Fuzz pedals anymore but I do have a GE-7. Should it be installed before or after the Fuzz?

After the fuzz slowy. Its useful if you've got a fuzz you 'just about like, ' and just need to give it a gentle push in the right direction

I haven't tried that one, I'll have to check it out. I just remembered that it's the bkackarts musket pedal. You can get so much out of them.

The best fuzz I've owned is the blackout effectors musket v2, it gets all the gilmour muff tones and way much more, but yes, the triangle muff is the most musical of all muffs and I'd go for the EHX reissue any day if you want something cheaper than the musket

I’ve never found a fuzz that I really enjoy. But that must be in isolation, because when I’ve jumped on other people’s gear in a live situation the fuzz works, and plenty of guys use them to great effect.

The rat works well for the Fenders. Had it for ages.
