Compressors

Post by Conway »

Haven't had a compressor on my board for a long while, just tried an Xotic SP but it gets a bit noisy unless on the Low setting (which then doesn't do very much). Anyone got a good compressor for sale? Or thoughts on the Keeley Compressor Plus which Rockshop has in stock at a reasonable price?

I *think* I've still got my Barber Tone Press (parallel compressor where you can blend the raw and compressed signals together at your preferred ratio), I'll have a look and you're welcome to borrow and see if it suits

Did I buy a pigtronix philosophers tone off you? I've owned 2 now and found them awesomely quiet as long as you don't turn them up too high :)

Quite likely, I've had a couple of them. Yeah, there's not enough scope for fine tuning on the Xotic.

I bought one made by BUSH FX from faceboof, I think it's an orange squeezer clone.
LOVE IT!
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

I'd like to get the SlideRIG one from them but I already have enough mortgages!

I've had the Cali76 3 knob (non deluxe) version and didn't like it - affected the tone/wasn't transparent enough.

I bought the Keeley Comp plus when it first came out, didn’t like it! I must be the only person though as I can’t find many bad reviews on it! The blend sounded best when it was on full so may as well not have been there.
I’ve settled on the Diamond Comp JR (optical) and I also really like the Silver Pistol optical compressor.
Although I don’t generally like compressors as an effect, I like it sound just like my original amp but with the natural compression you get when you crank your amp up a bit.

This pedal here looks like what I really want though....if money wasn’t an issue!
