I’ve always been surprised by how joyless I have found every strat I’ve ever played. I really want to like they because they’re so iconic, but every time I touch one it’s a disappointment
Yeah, I'm a bit the same... until you put a bucker in the bridge and a two point trem. Then they cover so much ground. Have you tried flats on it? They’re magical on your Ric’s long lost brotherbbrunskill wrote:you're not convincing me . . . anyway, when I want more jangle, I just play more jangle-y-er . .. bit closer to the bridge, open strings, bobs you're uncle.Frey wrote:love that jangle pop Ricky tone! have you tried a celestion blue? what about long plate JJ 12AX7s? that could get you most of the way to "ultimate"! tone is subjective and lies in the fingers remember!bbrunskill wrote:My Ric has more or less killed guitar GAS for me. It does the main sound I need better than anything else, very easy and comfy to play. I like very much my little Laney VC15, but i have a sneaky feeling it's not the ultimate.
It's utterly badass with flats, glorious stuff! But they are a bit too 'niche' sounding for covers . . . and a bastard to bendEruera wrote:Have you tried flats on it?
