Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
So I've had the afternoon with it - pretty damn easy to use I must say, and pretty editable and controllable.
Created all the sounds I need for my bass gig already, as well as playing around for a bit too.
In-built Bass overdrive sounds good enough for my uses right now, which is nice.
One thing (mainly for Matt) - the in-built tuner doesn't track a low-B on bass, so i have to tune that with the 12th fret harmonic. Is that something a firmware update might be able to fix or are we stuck with it?

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
Repeat request from the BOSS release thread... TIAA request to Matt, Sirvil or xCaptainx...
I'd really LOVE to hear a demo of the effects on these! (If you get time.)
The youtoobs I've seen are more about peeps overall switching and rig setups (bar the PGS demo which was my fave). Personally I want to hear the inbuilt sounds this unit can muster. Thanks in advance

I'm keen for one of these for my bass rig too, but guitar gas comes first

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
Alright spent about 30 mins this morning getting my head around manual mode and assigning multiple parameters to one footswitch. Took a wee bit, but I got it now.
Set up a simple patch with the following
Gate
Pitch
Overdrive
Loop (effects loop)
Delay
Reverb.
Pitch will be controlled by expression pedal
FS1 controls turning on and off the delay/reverb (for 'solo' mode)
This is my default template 'pedalboard' layout in manual mode.
Didn't take too long to get my head around and the user interface is much friendly than say the axe fx.
Looking forward to spending more time with this later today.

Does it have a shimmer reverb?

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
Had a muckaround this morning added a clean boost to FX2 to the patches that don't have it, but having it OFF as default. Then assign Current Number to turning it on. Now you've got a clean boost on tap whenever you need it.

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
Sweet got it working with four cable method, using Loop 3 as my effects loop.
Nice and easy to set up and painless to get my preferred effects order sorted.
Need to get a tidy snake going that also includes a longer TRS cable to I can control channel switching via cntrl 1 out. I tried using a standard TS cable hoping but no luck. Looks like I need a TRS cable.
The application to edit on PC looks to be out mid July.

I'd say it would need trs as TS is essentiality shorting the ring and sleevexCaptainx wrote:Sweet got it working with four cable method, using Loop 3 as my effects loop.

Yup have a long TRS cable on order and a dual TS lead to complete a 4CM + TRS channel switching snake.

Checked the doco and no to shimmer Not a game changer tho'... https://static.roland.com/assets/media/ ... ng01_W.pdf
It's a shame you can't separate the loops and insert effects between them, but then with what I'm envisioning for me that wouldn't be an issue... with being able to channel switch the katana as well it's quite tempting!

Re: Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher Megathread
yeah as Matt referred to a while back, the effects quality within it are pretty dope and the loopers are more for overdrives/distortion/fuzz where people have really strong personal preferences.
That being said, the in built tube screamer is great. It's paired well with my 6505MH.
I'm looking forward to the PC app so I can easily de-construct some of the pre set delay patches, most of them are working extremely well with the four cable method. Not that I can't do it on the unit itself, I just think I'll be able to understand the patches a lot easier when using the app.

Hey Matt (hope you're reading this) is there any DL link for the PC app us nzg dudes could sneakily aquire? Assuming it's not still in beta.
Website said July for launch but I'd love to tinker around, perhaps even get an early start on third party walk through videos for social media channels etc.
