That's not quite correct.

The unit will ship with 8 x AA Alkaline batteries. However it is (unlike some of our other products) fully compatible for use with NiMH rechargeables, if the user wishes.

Well......"bwah bwah" you may say. To enable battery charging within the unit would have added further cost to production. This product is already taking a degree of flak for it's pricing (we simply can't build it any cheaper due, largely, to the wireless technology and bluetooth certification) and we decided that we need to take some steps towards making it slightly more affordable.

Can't please all the people all the time...

We've never had it so good!

With the exception of Gibson of course... ;-)

Looks very cool to me! Questions regarding the Katana Line in general, do any of the settings do a Vox-y thing and can the t-wah cop a decent Garcia vibe?

I wish I could say yes to this, but....no.
However - I can get some pretty great Vox-esque action going on using a pre-overdrive graphic EQ in front of the Katana CRUNCH mode.

I don't know. I'm not a Grateful Dead fan at all....but the T.Wah effect is pretty great.

I hate to admit it, but I'm rather intrigued by this Katana Air. Looks like a nice little toy to play around with at home, wirelessly which should be fun. And it doubles as a bluetooth speaker.

When's it out and how many hand shandies???

Looking at the US pricing it'll be $699 NZ here

Based on $399 RRP of it over there which is about the same as the Katana 100 1x12 RRP :)

Funny, a couple of days ago I was going to post something about a recent snippet I read from Nita Strauss how she turned up in Maui at a jam show with a GT-100 and she got to meet Dave Murray from Maiden who was performing at the same show and he arrived with the same GT-100 (a pretty old one apprently) and it turns out that it's his go to fx unit when he isn't playing his full Maiden rig.

Anyway, now they go and release the GT-1000, be interesting to hear the views of the wider reviews and audience when the dust settles.

(also, hopefully the new Katana doesn't make my brand new Katana 100W Head obsolete already...)

Curious how that stacks up against the Helix.
