Although I'm in a bit of a creative lull atm, have written one new full song in about 7 months.
Just got engaged and starting a new job soon, so a lot of big changes but when I settle in I'll get back into it.

Wait I lie, I'm getting one more bit of gear. I'm using my leftover accrued leave to buy a Supro Black Magick when I leave my current job haha
but that's just cause it's basically free money and I figure I need a combo anyway (actually do as I currently only have 4x12s and 100W heads)

EDIT:
Also I think what others have said about you reviewing and having access to gear diminishing GAS resonates with some truth too. I found over the past 3-4 years working MI retail you get kinda bored with stuff. "oh aNOTHER reverb pedal, yay... Oh a new type of Strat with some stupid fucking pickup configuration nobody ever asked for" so maybe stepping back from that I may find GAS returning a lot haha.

Herein lies the problem, more disposable income at new job, no staff discount at music store... will I end up with less money hahaha
Yeah this sounds pretty much bang on, especially the second part.

Also, I've done a lot of the cool stuff that I wanted to do - played lots of cool gear, went to a couple of NAMM shows, met some of my heroes. Maybe it's time for a new outlet for the musical stuff.

Oh man so you're leaving Cranbourne Music? Where are you off to now?

So you have done all this great stuff so time to move on. Keep things fresh and get a new instrument, like the piano accordian. Rock out on one of those puppies in a top oompah band.
In life, don't sweat the petty stuff, and don't pet the sweaty stuff.

Don't know if anybody's posted this (tl;dr) but perhaps you've defined a refined palate so to speak and, because you know what a LOT of guitars/rigs are going to sound/play like before even picking them up, gear doesn't excite you as much?
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

Seriously? More than you and Troy together have ever had.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Haha definitely not. I was in a Queen tribute band very briefly, but mostly I've done either originals or garden variety covers.

Actually was there a photo of you with Billy, Ed? That might have been the genesis of the vicious cover band rumours

Has this happened to you? Should I see a doctor?
"should I see a doctor"

I thought maybe you were joking. But with the ongoing thread, you seem serious.

I don't think you need to worry, when you're on the road you just want to keep moving, and when you arrive at your destination you miss the road. Perfectly natural.

Good analogy I reckon.

A: I've dined at some heinously expensive restaurants around the world, I've savoured $500 bottles of wine.

B: Tonight I cooked my own steak and am drinking $7.99 Jacobs Creek.

Because of A, I'm perfectly happy with B, and know exactly what I'm missing, which in my opinion, is bugger all.

6hr recording session tonight. Tensions high. Last week altercations very nearly fisticuffs.

When you can play a guitar for 6hrs and it does everything you ask of it, it definitely dampens your GAS. So yeah it's happened to me, but perhaps in a different way.

Anyway, just enjoy some contentedness for a bit, or don't, whatever, I'm just a drunk mediocre guitarist happy with a 60's spec SG or two.
