Using my Ipad for guitar
Hey Guys,
I have got some programs on my ipad like bias amp and fx, and amplitube etc. I've also got a looper etc on it. I've got a good interface to connect my guitar to the ipad as well. I listen to it with my headphones.
I also exclusively use spotify to listen to music using my phone or ipad - connecting them to a cheap bluetooth speaker.
I can pick a new one of these up for $400. Lady won some sony gear, and has got two of them
http://www.sony.co.nz/electronics/wirel ... rs/srs-x99
It should sound pretty good for listening to music shouldn't it?
How would it go if I connected my ipad to it for guitar? I would like to use it use it to play at night when my amp is too loud, and take advantage of the cool software on my ipad.
Would that be goer, or is there something else that would be better value for money? or something that would be way better for guitar / music?

I've tried similar things but Bias and Amplitude on iOS won't allow audio out to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. Wired connection to external speaker does work. Decent headphones are the best in my experience.

Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
I don't mind if I have to use a cable for using it as a guitar speaker, I can still do wireless for the music.
Did it sound ok, or are there better Options?

I tried this...couldn't get it to work for some reason. I had the line out of the port going to the speaker and not headphones. Nada.

Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
I see what you mean. I need to check that it has got the right input on the speaker, so that I can take the signal out of the headphone out of the sonicport and take it to the speaker. My little bluetooth speaker has got the right connections, surely this one would.GrantB wrote:I tried this...couldn't get it to work for some reason. Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
Here's something I found on the internet haven't tried it myself (big user of Bias Fx) but you never know?
I am using this bluetooth receiver from diamond (http://www.diamondmm.com/btm300-diamond ... eiver.html). The 3.5 mm jack connects as an input into a channel on my mixer and then into the power amp. You still need Apogee Jam / iRig to get your guitar signal into the ipad, at which point you can jam to your headphones, or direct the output to a bluetooth connection that you configure on the iPad. With the mixer you can mix in drum tracks, jams tracks etc via mp3-player, loopers, guitar trainers etc...
In my particular case, I use the iPad to stream anytune+ (best song-learning app i have ever used) to the mixer, and I just plug my guitar into my amps and play along to what comes out of the PA.

Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
I used iPhone headphone plug > 1/8" TRS to 1/8" TRS cable > Bose mini speaker. Worked fine but the sound was pretty average. Headphones sounded better, but I don't like wearing headphones. Gave up and went back to annoying the neighbours.AiRdAd wrote:I see what you mean. Danny says he has the interface, it's the speaker end that he wants to sort out. iLoud looks good but it's a bit more expensive.

Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
According to my own experience and couple of other iLoud owners, it is indeed amazing, handles lowed very sufficient, no speaker fart and maintains very good clarity, but we play brutal high-gain none-djent material, so our opinions/experiences are fairly biased/limited.Conway wrote:Danny says he has the interface, it's the speaker end that he wants to sort out. iLoud looks good but it's a bit more expensive.

Re: Using my Ipad for guitar
I've used this, with the bog standard iRig. Headphones sound approximately 4732x better, but it was still okay for a mere $20.
