Depends. Bedroom warriors like myself who just want to learn the songs they love also want to at least approximate the tone of the original. If you like a wide variety of stuff, then ergo you will want a wide variety of tones.Molly wrote:I wonder if they looked at why people who don't buy Kempers don't buy Kempers. I really like the look of that but my AC15 will do me for now.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Personally can't stand positive grid, the setup and use are awesome, but it sounds cheap and obviously fake from the presets I've tried.
I think the nicest fake amps I've used came from the kemper, then the Axe Ties with the helix for me

And the Kempers and Axe-a-phones of this world aren't priced for most bedroom warriors.hamo wrote:Depends. Not even gonna bother trying this thing after what it cost me to try out the very disappointing Helix.

Seems to me there are two areas where profiling/modelling amps excel:bender wrote:And the Kempers and Axe-a-phones of this world aren't priced for most bedroom warriors.hamo wrote:Depends. The working/touring muso who can sample his favourite gear and leave it safely at home.
Studio engineers for whom they must be the most amazing rainbow palette ever seen.
I'm constantly reminded how little I fuss about my gear when playing live, compared to the times I'm just noodling at home. You can't worry about how exactly TS808 your tone is just after launching into your solo.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Dumb ass question. How does this differ from the ipad version sound wise? Can I hook up my ipad to a power amp and have the same thing?

Not sure about the difference sound wise.. but i hook my ipad up (with bias fx) to a power amp all the time sounds pretty good to me.
you will need an interface though i use an irig 2.

Re: Kemper got competition . . . .
Probably not much sound differences. A dedicated hardware would have less lag though, so it would probably be more of a "feel" thing.AiRdAd wrote:Dumb ass question. How does this differ from the ipad version sound wise? Can I hook up my ipad to a power amp and have the same thing?
