If you want to try lots of different sounds and the ability to save presets I'd go for that HD300. I played for years at church using only a pod xt live and got huge mileage from it. If you want just one pedal, maybe 2, Id go for a delay first, something like DD7/Carbon Copy. Unless your amp is multi channel, get an overdrive. If u have a couple channels then I'd grab a tremolo or reverb as a second pedal instead. If you want a sweet lead booster, get a klon or clone thereof... eg soulfood. 2c

+1 for the HD500 I had a lot of fun with that thing even though its not as good as other kit
its pretty cheap at least,

the pandora stomp was cool and cheap for the money-however it suffered from too much colouration in a pedal board situation for me.I second the M series-lots of variety and plays nice with all sorts of applications including 4 cable
