What's Good Modulation Sound Like?

Post by Slowy »

Phase, Flange, Chorus...Dunno if I can live with them but not sure I want to live without either. I usually get bored after a couple of days and remove them from my board.
I've has a Boss Flanger (OK), A Boss CH1 (Yawn) a Mooer Eleclady (probably the best of all) and the utterly hateful sound of a Fender Princeton Chorus.

So.. What's good modulation sounds? Examples please and who makes pedals worth actually keeping?

If you can pick one up cheap enough, a Möbius will satisfy your every modulation whim and need.

For me, good modulation is lush, deep and creamy. (wtf did I just type lol)

Bad modulation would be thin, metallic, etc (unless you like that sort of sound).

Flange is my favourite, could happily live with out the others as it can cover that kind of ground too. Mine is MXR bog stock garden variety.

I use modulated delays mostly for my effects, echorec model on my alter ego gets the most use, I also have a flanger which I use in momentary mode to add some more madness sometimes... also pitchfork in detune mode gives a chorus like sound, but not so chorusy, I use that on the intro to one of our songs :)

Have just added an Alter Ego to my board. I'll pay some attention to the Echorec.
