I'm sure you're right, and I should probably be a bit more patient. But I am after something pretty specifically like this... Single cut LP special from the 90s, cherry red, 60s neck. There was a custom shop version on TM a while ago, but it was a bit beyond me. Other than that I haven't seen anything recently. Don't suppose your mate Troy has one tucked away does he?

Wouldn't surprise me but he's not said as much. I'll ask.

I've always liked these too. I've seen a handful of them pop up on TM over the last few years, most sold for between $1200 - $1500.

Not with this one...it is using Ebays program so it lands fully cleared.
I was going to ask about that. So there is no need to pay GST over and above the import charges on ebay? The 'what's my duty' website estimates GST at a tick over $200.
GrantB wrote:Still a bit steep for that model. But it looks lovely. I've yet to strike a dud one of these.
They are taking offers, so I might try and get them closer to US$800. What would you say is a fair price?
I bought the doublecut of this for $800 a couple of years back, immediately took the p100s out, spent another $150 on pickups, then foolishly sold it for $1k... Possibly a bit rich for this one, but what's money, when it comes to LP specials?

If you can seal the deal for $1400 NZD or under, consider it good buying.

Excellent advice all. I might make an offer for US$700, but leave it if they don't accept (and I suspect they won't). I'll cool my jets and bide my time... Need to sell some things to pay for it anyway!

I've bought 3-4 guitars from ebay or reverb. Has gone really well. Use Paypal so you have backup if needed, communticate clearly, do your maths on what it is ACTUALLY going to cost, and expect shipping to take an age.

hey man! bit late to the party.

But i have delt with these guys through reverb before. My gibbo 335 turned up REAL fast and skipped customs.

They are legit to deal with.

Try and find them through reverb and see if they will do you a deal. They are also on facebook and can message directly.

Thanks, I did a bit of back and forth with them through ebay, but couldn't quite get them down far enough (I was prepared to do US$750, but $800 was their final offer). If I could have snuck through customs it would have been a different story! Was that just luck of the draw?

I would say never count on being able to sneak through customs. I've been lucky a few times but as soon as you count on it, Murphy will step in and bill yo' ass.
