Behringer Ultra Tremolo UT300, terrible?

Post by filthysmurf »

Hi, I have a need for a Tremolo pedal, this is not something I will use alot of so I'm not wanting to over spend.

I've seen the Behringer Ultra Tremolo UT300 mentioned around the interwebs, a few reviews indicate it's decent enough, while others aren't so flattering.
I like the idea of the of the Wave control, similar to the Boss TR2.

I was also looking at the Boss TR2 and the Electro Harmonix Stereo Pulsar but there seems to plenty of comments saying the controls on the Stereo Pulsar are overly sensitive?

So, does anyone know if the UT300 is good enough to be usable, or is it terrible?

I had one. Didn't like it one bit. Gave it away.
There is a reason it's so cheap. The yellow joyo one is kind of decent but needs the trim pot adjusted to get decent depth. I like the BBE.
Haven't tried the boss but I hear good things.

Check out the danelectro, I've had one and it was great. The Boss one sounds good, but the one I had was too noisy . . .

There's a reason the Boss TR-2 is one of the oldest pedals in the lineup. There's not a lot wrong with it so they have needed to change it for eons. It's a good industry standard.

The Red Witch Seven Sisters Tremolo is pretty darn awesome

Tuna Melt. Great little pedal from memory, but it was a fair few years ago. I've had the Cool Cat Trem and Delay both were excellent.

Matt, is it normal for the TR-2 to be a bit hissy?

They are a little on the noisy side..... but not enough to cause any practical trouble for most people.

HI bbrunskill, I looked at the Cool Cat but the controls are seated in a really weird way, how did you get on with this?

If you can try a BBE tremor, do so. It's got two channels so you can flick between a fast choppy trem and a slow surge so you don't need to fiddle. My Princeton and my vox have great trem built in, otherwise I would have kept my BBE.

Interesting, I see Music Planet have them at a nice price.

How did you find the controls, not overly sensitive?

Yep, very quite function too. No hiss. Nice fenders look to it too. Probably the only negative is that it takes up a bit of space on the board.
