Hotcake - True Bypass?

Post by The Scarecrow »

Okay, I'm wanting to look at a Hotcake again to boost the gain channel on my amp as I've found, after culturing my ears for the last six months that my Boss Bluesdrive slurps a bit of tone, making the overall overdriven sound blunter - not by much, but by enough to make me lose a bit of crunch.

After some experimentation, I've found it's quite possibly to do with my naff power supply and I should just buy a Boss PSA and daisy chain, but I'm keen to get a smoother sound and I know from the memory, the last time I had a Hotcake, the start of the year, it was definitley less gritty, more creamy, or at least that's what I recall.

I just want to know if it's true bypass and what other's experiences with them are? And does anyone here have on they wish to part with?
