WIRELESS. whos got em?

Post by stuu »

ok.

who has one, and what do you use?

also, which would you reccommend?

not really interested on opinions on the guitarbug systems, im aiming more at the sennheiser evolution series and the mid price audiotechnica gear range.

I have one - never use it, but I'm a hoarder. I'll keep it just in case...

I think its a Samson?

I prefer my tone with copper wire.

I had an AKG guitar bug and thought it good until one day I just happened to plug direct into the amp immediatly after uses the wireless. Man, it was so different. I had never realised how much tone was being robbed. The top range ones should be good but look at spending way over $1000

Our lead guitarist still uses an AKG.

The plus of cable is you have a lot less to worry about, most venues don't give you much space to move around on stage anyway. I noticed at most of the medium sized concerts I have been to over the past year, very few use wireless.

That's a great point, Phillip.

I've played with guitarists who use wireless no matter what - even though they never move from one spot, about 200mm right in front of their amp all night - due to room at venues.

All those batteries - giving up their lives pointlessly.....

yeah, i know that theres no real need for a wireless in most venues (especially when youre ina 7 peice band). and having played in most main venues in the country i have a fair idea of how much i'd need one (never, but i'd use it anyway!!!!!!!)

but i liked the freedom i had with one. and special occaisions like NYE gigs and the Beach Day Out tour and stuff it could come in handy.

it also comes into use when figuring out if your sound guy is meesing with your tones too much for the purpose of "the mix"

Yeah that could affect the navigation devices in the pub. And you might end up with the local taxi calls coming out of your amp.

LOL - there's a local club band here with a very dodgy bass player who goes completely wireless all the time. I nearly lost it when I went to check the band out (as you do) at the RSA and saw him wandering around the dance floor perimeter during a gig. People all dancing round him etc.

The bass player in question is next to useless (that's the guitarist) but he has the holy grail - a PA and a van!! That's often the only way some players can get gigs!! True!!
