I used to have nothing but Strats. About eight or so at one point. To me they were all completely different. Mrs didn't think so.griff7628 wrote:Wow very nice! Strats are my thing too. Was gonna post what I had coming but I feel somewhat deflated now.

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
Lately I've been through many different amp sim demos with an EQ plugin thrown at them in hope to make them sound like tubes, including buying and selling an Atomic Amplifire and purchasing many different IR's and still not being completely happy. I deliberated for a while and finally ordered a Suhr reactive load.
The Two Notes stuff was second on the list, many have said the Suhr unit sounds a bit better. I plan on running it into Wall Of Sound III.
If I cant get a decent recorded tone from this I dont know what I'm gonna do..
I guess I am officially a tube snob.. oh well (Would love to give Fractal or Kemper a whirl one day tho.. that may change my mind)

Sounds like it's more about your ability of tweaking/recording/mixing than the actual gear...griff7628 wrote: If I cant get a decent recorded tone from this I dont know what I'm gonna do..

Probably. I'm an amateur for sure. But at the same time, no amount of tweaking, mixing etc is gonna make cheaper amp sims/plugins sound analog. And I cant afford a higher end modeler.

When you stick a mic in front of a tube amp, are you able to get a sound you like?griff7628 wrote:Probably. I'm an amateur for sure. But at the same time, no amount of tweaking, mixing etc is gonna make cheaper amp sims/plugins sound analog. And I cant afford a higher end modeler.
Also, if you're using IR's it's still gonna sound more or less "digital" even with a loaded tube amp. A lot of times what a modeller lacks is a bit of "air" from real cabs and microphones. Even a HD500 sounds pretty decent when pumped through a real cab.

Yeah the sound I get from a single 57 is better than any modeler or sim I've tried.godgrinder wrote:When you stick a mic in front of a tube amp, are you able to get a sound you like?griff7628 wrote:Probably. I like to play at night so volume is the issue with this. I did consider the isobooth option but too many variables.
Most of the reactive load demos I've watched on youtube sound pretty excellent, but I wont know until I try it myself I guess.
