The album title comes from the song, which originally was called Brand New Day. Of course, not overly unique but what is, eh? Anyway, Georgia Wood (one of the backing singers) said she liked the Phoenix song. Then I was at the Whangarei Jazz festival and Marika's band (Liquid Colours) played an original called Brand New Day and that settled it.

The cover was in my head for a while in one way or another. I wanted it to be bright orange. Then the song took over as a title track. Simen had designed a logo for a firm in Norway that had the eagle so we worked with it and finally, added hot rod flames...

Because hot rod flames rock. 8)

The lyrics are:

You’ve been swallowing the poison
You’ve been suffering the pain
Your wounds are growing deeper
You make the same mistakes again

It’s a long road to redemption
When you hold on to the shame
Stand proud, turn your life around
Become a better man

You gotta rise up and spread your wings
Like a Phoenix from the flames
You gotta rise up and spread your wings
It’s a brand new day

You’ve been looking for forgiveness
And so the song remains the same
You need a new beginning
The time has come to break the chains

When you find your soul purpose
You’ll find there is no one to blame
Stand proud, turn your life around
Become a better man

You gotta rise up and spread your wings
Like a Phoenix from the flames
You gotta rise up and spread your wings
It’s a brand new day

You gotta rise up and spread your wings
Like a Phoenix from the flames
You gotta rise up and spread your wings
It’s a brand new day
"It's all a gift... and I have to keep giving it back, or it goes away. If I start believing that it's all my doing, it's gonna be my undoing." - Stevie Ray Vaughan

If is the one with black knob(s), then its the 535B (I think thats right) which is the one Adam Jones uses. If it has crome knob(s), its the 535Q.
Huh? 535b ? the bass version?

*Edit* it's a BB-535. So I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the 'Q' feature, but it has the volume boost. Hmmmm... interesting.
Yeah the BB-535, thats the one. Let me know how it sounds eh.

Rocklander has finished the uglyface pedal, or Turpisoris as he called it, or as i'll call it after housing it, Octobinarium Chaotic Defuzzulator or OCD for short

i've also got a Boss volume pedal( to make up for not having a volume on the guitar  )
and a Morley Power Wah 8)

damn im liking this recession, 2nd hand stuff is cheeeep

i think pedalwise this for have to do for a while(insert Tui billboard here) , have to save up to take the Gunn down to Wellies to get fixed

now to tell the missus i got 5 pedals and a mic preamp this week
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

More like the hangover's in the male...

In the mail this week I got a $150 fine for parking in a disabled space - when I wasn't even parked! Hence the ticket in the mail - I wasn't stopped long enough for the warden to come and put a ticket on my car. I pulled over, my wife hopped in, I drove off. I saw the bugger take my plate too.

well with the little plat i've had so far, it seems to react to how hard you hit the strings, so if you go soft, soft, hard...
you get a good old porno soundtrack, doesnt play nice with the Metal Muff tho, when the Metal Muff is on at the same time as the Twah theres a substantial added hum/hiss that the noise gate wont gate, but it plays nice with the Pignose. might have to experiment with the order, dont know how long it will stay on the board as i've got an old 70s Morley power wah on its way 8). im diffenatly going to have to make a bigger pedalboard now, that Morley looks to be about as big as my whole pedalcase
a bit more experimenting with the Twah might produce some interesting results
