Would like a YT link of exactly what it is you're going for. See the term 'Dumble' used all over the place and don't really know what's meant by Trainwreck either (aware of the amps but not any specific characteristic they're known for).Slowy wrote:Dumkido or Zen Drive pedal may help. GASSING for something Dumble-y or Trainwreck-y but trying to keep my hands off our savings account. Pffffff
Trainwreckishness requires either a DrZ Z Wreck or a Komet.

Congrats on the gear Nirvana status Conway. Perhaps we should all follow Conway's lead and each chose a colour for our guitars? At the very least, it would reduce the number of guitars we were allowed to gas over, and it would make for a very colourful gearfest.Conway wrote:Having acquired that very nice Tropical Turquoise EJ Strat last night, I now have no idea what I want next! You'll be wanting a maple neck for that EJ then, eh?

Do you want to swap necks with your EJ?olegmcnoleg wrote:You'll be wanting a maple neck for that EJ then, eh?
To be honest, I dunno if it makes a huge difference. I have only played it for an hour though, and not done a comparison to my Suhr maple Strat.

Open to the idea of a neck swap--if you want to go that way. See if you like the one you have first though...Conway wrote:Do you want to swap necks with your EJ?olegmcnoleg wrote:You'll be wanting a maple neck for that EJ then, eh?

Cheers mate. I will give it a decent chance. And it does look quite smart with the binding.olegmcnoleg wrote:Open to the idea of a neck swap--if you want to go that way. See if you like the one you have first though...

Will have a look later and put something up if it aligns with what's in my head.Molly wrote:Would like a YT link of exactly what it is you're going for. For me, 'Dumble' tone is a fat, smooth OD that makes a Strat bridge pup gorgeous. Hence my love of the Zen Drive.
Obviously it's way more than that. As for Trainwreck, Ken Fischer didn't have a distinct sound. His talent was to build you the most perfect amp you could imagine. He used 2 or 3 basic architectures (EL84 and EL34.. I think) but most of his output was tuned for a specific customer.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Can you get a wall of Gibson's and tweak them? Throw him into a state of conflict!Molly wrote:Quick tweak for Conway.Single coil wrote:
