Amp effects loop questions

Hi.

I have asked for help with this before but have been unable to solve what seems a fairly simple or basic task. Today I had time to give everything a try/working over.

- There is numerous Musicians who firmly believe that effects pedals / stomp boxes must be placed into the main input of the amplifier

Bass- Pedals - Amp input

**( yes there is certain types of modulation that 'work better' in the effects loop send/return)

My Ashdown Amplifiers will not work with my pedal board going into the input. They will only work through the effects loop.

"Patching" the effects loop whilst using the front input does not solve this issue

-Both Amps work fine with Bass-Amp input

- Both Amps work fine Bass- Single Pedal - Amp input

****The pedal board works fine plugged into the front of a different manufacturers amplifier.

Appreciate any help, I've asked on Talk Bass as well. I'm suspecting it's a quirk or design of Ashdown Engineering or I've got something on my board that 'reacts' poorly in the chain.

I would start with one pedal, and a couple of known good leads and work up from there, what exactly do you mean by not working? is there no sound at all? would be really weird for any amp to behave like this if thats the case!

That’s fuckin weird, but I run all my effects through the loop. Hmm.

it sounds like one of the jacks - in or out- is buggered mate, although you mentioned 'amps'.... are you sure you have ins and outs the right way round? as in the amp loop out to the pedals in, and the pedals out to the amp loop in?

Id say since the board works fine through other amps there might be an impedance or line level issue. Hard to know without more info.

No sound - a hum

Korg Pitch Black Tuner indicates there is an issue

Yet without changing anything but running through amps effects loop it then works.

sorry, misread, so they don't work into the input of the amp?

so simple question.... pedal in is your bass, pedal out is to amp. yes?

the opposite of the loop version...

I was sure it would be a bung Jack or shit cable or my fault

But it works in the loop... weird eh???

Yes. Bass - Pedal in - Pedal out- Amp input
This works with all my pedals seperatly but not collectively

Whilst all pedals have the 'correct' power hooked into the ModTone Brick
Not all of them are 9v

I've got a new idea actually I'm going to plug into the front and take pedals off one by one until the front input works...

ok, you have one pedal back to front. They sometimes will make a sound but switching them has no effect.

All the pedals are correct. It's got me baffled.
If a pedal or cable was 'wrong' then it wouldn't work through the amps effects loop either. At least I think so.

Anyway cheers for the help everyone I will book a time in with Mr Steve Bartlett.

No good.

I'm going to talk to the Ashdown guys then see Steve Baja I guess.
