Aren't you off to the UK at some stage soon? Just wondering if there are better second hand or hire options there.

I hesitate to buy something like this second-hand. It'd be fine from someone I trust. Just hesitate to get it from some random bloke on TM. Dunno why. I guess because it's such an unknown to me.WellyBlues wrote:Aren't you off to the UK at some stage soon? Just wondering if there are better second hand or hire options there.
Shift will be at the end of the year.

If you are buying a non powered unit. There is a second party dohicky that screws on the back to make it a powered unit.
Unsure of the name of the company. Some one here will know

Camplifier from Ritter Amplification. I put one into a Kemper a few years back. Works ok. I personally would go unpowered and run through a powered FRFR.

Re: Bollocks.... I think I want a Kemper :-(
Can you help me understand that? There's a disadvantage to going powered? I'd hoped I could treat it like an amp and run it through one or both of my cabs.casemysta wrote:Agreed - We have IRS for a reason!

I already spend too much time rotating gear. Want to plug and play if possible. Can dig into it over time.
As a side question. Will it mean I can flick my reverb and overdrive pedals? Just thinking about what I can sell to help fund it.
Thanks.

Re: Bollocks.... I think I want a Kemper :-(
You don't want to run the kemper through your guitar cabs, as they are designed to colour the sound. The kemper profiles are made by directly sampling the entire signal chain: from boost and overdrive pedals, to the amp, then the speakers, the microphones used to record and even the room it is recorded in--these are what the profiles capture. You will need full range flat response FR/FR speakers/studio monitors/PA (or headphones) to get the best from it.
Make sense?
I think it just got more expensive

Re: Bollocks.... I think I want a Kemper :-(
PS Other profilers work by simulating individual parts of the signal chain, so you could turn off speaker simulation and use you existing speakers, even turn off amp emulation and use just the effects with your existing amps.
If this is what you want to do, you need a Helix, AxeFX or even a Line 6 HD500 and NOT a Kemper.

PPS
Might not be such a silly idea to start with an HD500. They are cheap now, the FX are great and it will let you figure out if you can get on with this kind of technology before you blow the bank on a more expensive gadget. Plus the amp and speakers...

Re: Bollocks.... I think I want a Kemper :-(
I did wonder if the speaker portion of the sample could be switched off. Could i maybe swap out the speakers in one of my cabs or is that still too far from its intended use?
