Speaking of Tokai, I saw somewhere recently there's a retailer(?) in NZ who will be stocking them soon.Mini Forklift Ⓥ wrote:Indeed! Have my Tokai Les Paul to flout too, happy daysReg18 wrote:Might be gearfest time again?

You really need the opportunity to crank this too, eh? That'd probably be another revelation in itself. I've that Two Rock heading back and would love to hear it LOUD. Same with the Friedman. As good as it sounds at sensible volumes, I'd dearly love to just crank the shit out of it.Mini Forklift Ⓥ wrote:Spent a couple of hours with it this morning then went straight to my Jet City and plugged in.
OMFG.
I had always thought my JC ‘Vintage’ 20w head was fantastic, almost Plex-like in tone and it just sounded like I thought what my tone was. After hitting a few notes after having played the SSS for a good while, it’s now clearly apparent what an absolute country mile they are apart from each other (and likely every other amp I’ve owned before). Tone, fullness, note & chordal clarity... jeez. I was truly surprised.
Not that I now think the JC is a shit amp, far from it. But it has highlighted how good this piece of new gear is - I never in a million days thought I would notice such a profound difference.
