Re: Cab advice please
picked up a jack to jack joiner, and now I've got it running through both speakers of the bellbird:
Still a ridiculous setup for my needs, but I'm having a lot of fun playing with the extra gain and headroom vs what I'm used to.
Played through a couple of cabs at the RS, to my tin ears the V30s sounded brighter/harsher than the GT75s, but without being able to give em a proper go at volume with the band in the mix its hard to tell.
Favourite line of the day from the otherwise very helpful/friendly shop assistant; asking what the difference between the 1936 and the 1936V is (other than $200 on the price tag) "its probably something in side it". Yes, probably. Still they got me set up with a couple of cabs to try, a nice amp and guitar, and left me to it, so can't ask for better than that.

I keep getting amazed by how easy it is to score decent cheap 412's haha, it's much harder to find good deals on 212's in comparison.AiRdAd wrote:Marshall 1960a quad just listed on trademe for 350 buy now. In Waikato area.

Re: Cab advice please
That will be because of the heavy weight of the 4x12's no doubt.

Re: Cab advice please
I feel that there's an underlying "I don't have a choice" aspect to 212's (these awkward situations where 112 is too small and 412 is too big) so people feel like they can ask a bit more and still being able to sell them.H671 wrote:That will be because of the heavy weight of the 4x12's no doubt.
Also lot of these old 412's are probably from guys who used to be in bands, and these cabs have already paid themselves off more or less.

I got a 1960A for $250 before, and it wasn't mutilated.AiRdAd wrote:I've never seen one for 350 before. It'll no doubt go very quickly

How Will a 65 Creamback and Blue go in a 212 cab do you think? Don't like the Blues with the Friedman but great with the Two Rock. Might that mix be poo?

Re: Cab advice please
Cheers Danny, I checked it out and had a serious think about hitting the BN, but Im sure I'd just end up trying to flick it for something more boot friendly down the track anyway, and the house just aint big enough for a quad.AiRdAd wrote:I've never seen one for 350 before. Yeah, having a quad is a big committment, so the market for quad buyers is primarily station wagon drivers in metal bands (& Molly), and whatever the Metal version of a blues lawyer is...
