Yeah, I was the one that started up importing Jet City amps to NZ. I was super excited about it (being a Soldano fan as I am), but boy those things just did NOT sell. Even when we completely price dumped them in the stores, they were extremely slow to move. I could never understand it, and I still don't.

Bang for buck, they bat very high in the tone stakes. Build quality would turn up minor flaws here and there, but the quality where it counts (i.e. PCB) was pretty good. They are essentially a good amp.

There aren't a lot of JC amps floating around NZ, so when one pops up, it's worth grabbing.

I have the JCA20HV and I must say despite the low price tag it's the one I use the most. It's a great platform for pedals and just has a great tone - I can't fault it apart from being ridiculously loud!

Depth switch is always on too, makes such a difference.

Looking back, I got mine from Polar Bear.

Anyone got any ideas what to look for re volume dropouts on these amps. Seems only when the master is high, i.e 7 or so. Seemingly fades in and out. Drop it to 4-5 and it's happy days. Power tubes perhaps?
Thought it was my guitar/cables for a while, but proved this incorrect.

Yeah I agree with all those reasons. Its a shame because you can coax almost any sound out of them and they're easy to mod if ya wanna go down that road. A very loud 20watts too. I can't go past 1/4 master on mine at band practice.
I've read on a few forums of dudes keeping them over their peavey and boogie high gain heads.

I think they are right up there as best bang for buck amps. Matt ex-Rockshop said they were really hard to shift for what ever reason...maybe the soldano name put people off who maybe looked at them as a "metal" amp
The build quality and components used are really good. The stupid logo is best removed and perhaps screwed to the bottom of the cab for resale time.

Took my logo off as soon as I bought it haha. TBH the vintage model actually looks really nice once the logo is off, also replaced all of the the knobs with the silver Dumble-style ones

I don't mind how they look. Doug and the team have really improved their aesthetics as of late. The new logo with the star looks faaar better than the old '333' logo. You can buy grill baffles etc for them.
