Re: N100wAWTFHIDD (NAD)
Just looked at the cost of the shortboard foot controller. Yeebus! It's more than I shelled out for the amp, in terms of the value I'd ascribed to what I traded.

Great score ! don't worry about the speaker wattage, just don't turn it up loud for now. Your unlikely to break the speaker at home without the neighbours letting you know its on its way out first.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: N100wAWTFHIDD (NAD)
Hamo - you could trying running your amp full tilt for for an hour or so with the amp on 16 ohms. If the amp overheats and blows up, it was definitely an 8 ohm speaker!!!willow13 wrote:99% sure it is 8ohmshamo wrote:Slight issue in that I'm not sure what the speaker in my cab is rated for...
Willow, can you remember?
Once again - a huge congrats on getting the amp!!!

Re: N100wAWTFHIDD (NAD)
Thanks guys. I think it's 8 ohms too, was more concerned about the wattage. I think Nik's right though, I won't have it up loud enough to test the limits. Keen to move up to a 2x12 at some stage anyway.AiRdAd wrote:Hamo - you could trying running your amp full tilt for for an hour or so with the amp on 16 ohms. You bet mate! That might be the first chance I get to switch it on...sirvill wrote:Bring to gearfest! Fun
I'll certainly keep an eye out. There's one on Facebook at the moment, but she's selling the amp with it...willow13 wrote:they do pop up on TM cheapish every now and thenhamo wrote:Just looked at the cost of the shortboard foot controller. Re: N100wAWTFHIDD (NAD)
the LOAD would be if you run it at 8ohms around 80watts, if you run it at 4ohms its 100watts according to the manual for the combo it come out ofhamo wrote: Thanks guys. Re: N100wAWTFHIDD (NAD)
So, laying out my thinking (if anyone's interested) behind grabbing this, beyond "hey that's a cheap amp!":
I have really been looking for something that gives me a fraction more flexibility than the Jet City. I really dig that amp, but to me it sort of sits in the middle of the spectrum between really clean and high gain monster - i.e. it doesn't really cover the full spectrum. I had intended to get something with more clean headroom than I'd ever need, and then smack it around with pedals to give me that coverage.
The interesting thing with this, I reckon, is it puts me right back into the tweak zone, with onboard effects, amp models and presets. That may cause me some issues, given my propensity to tweak, and to look for shortcuts like downloading patches. On the other hand, I can go manual mode and bypass all that stuff, and use it more like a traditional valve amp, or so I imagine.
Finally, I think this gives me more options if I want to pull finger and get myself into a band.
So, not completely an impulse thing, more the culmination of a thought pattern, however flawed it might be...
