Depends on the design - better safe than sorry - short the buggers out - twice.

Usually there is not much left in the caps after 10 mins ASSUMING a bleeder ressitor is fitted - unfortunately in the older amps people were not that sophisticated sometimes and you never know what some amateur electronic genius has been doing.

Best life saver I reckon is one of those mains screwdrivers that lights up when touched to mains(usually rated to 600 Volts at least). WHEN THE MAINS PLUG IS OUT - if the light goes on, short out the cap tags to earth.
You can't do THAT on stage!

Drummer are not much use for that - electricity requires a nice easy path - drummers way too thick..
